My career started in the early 60’s as a Tool and die / Mold maker. After a 4 year apprenticeship and nights at Chicago Technical College I became a journeyman die maker. This was excellent training on how products are made. During my time as journeyman die maker I spent a lot of time designing and building complex progressive tooling and products for the caster / glide industries.
During my management of the tool room, press room and year I was asked to get more involved in injection molding areas. After 15years, I decided it was time to go to another company which had different products and ways of manufacturing. This company manufactured products by the following; Machining, stamping, assembly, welding, electronics, and injection molding. I started as a production Superintendent, then Production Manager, and Plant Manager for a total of 18 years. This enabled me to visit large assembly plants, and see the child parts that were made and how each affected the main product and lifecycles of the finished product.
My third job was a new start up for a Japanese firm where it brought together two different cultures and a whole lot of the TPS. System. This tenure lasted 20 years as Executive Vice President. I thought @ 66 years old it was time to retire, but I couldn’t stay retired for long. After 2 years I started work again as a Part time consultant for a friend at a News Paper Media group.
In my spare time I went back to designing a new product and received my 1stpatent @ age 70. Throughout my whole life my goal was to make things better and easier. This drive to complete my goal manifested itself into the EZTRIM.
